Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Your privacy matters, especially because many people who visit this site have been through hard things. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language.

1. Who we are

This website, victoriaroos.com, is run by Victoria Roos (“we,” “us”). If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email us at support@victoriaroos.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you choose to give us

  • Messages. If you email us or contact us through this site, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write.
  • Email list. If you sign up for updates, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name.
  • Organizations. If you contact us about a partnership or speaking, we receive your contact details and the details of your organization.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site secure and working.
  • Cookies. WordPress may set a small number of cookies needed for the site to function, such as remembering a preference. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run ads.

We ask that you not send sensitive personal details (such as your home address, school, or details that identify other people) unless they are needed for us to help you.

3. How we use your information

  • To read and reply to your messages
  • To send email updates you asked for, such as news about the Foundation
  • To respond to organizations about partnerships and speaking
  • To keep the website secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix problems
  • To protect someone’s safety, as described in section 6

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we never use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers who help us run this site, and only as much as they need to do their job:

  • Website hosting (Bluehost), which stores the website and its data
  • Email service, which stores our email list and sends updates

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety (see section 6).

5. If you are under 18

This site is written to help people of all ages, including teenagers, find hope and practical tools. You are welcome to read everything here. Because we care about protecting young people, we follow these rules for anyone under 18:

  • We collect as little as possible. If you contact us, we use your message only to reply to you and point you toward help.
  • Our email list is for adults. Please don’t sign up if you are under 18. If we learn that a subscriber is under 18, we will remove them.
  • We never share a minor’s information for marketing or with anyone outside the service providers listed above, except to protect their safety (see section 6).
  • We delete messages from minors once they are no longer needed, unless we must keep them for safety or legal reasons.
  • Children under 13 should not send us personal information. If we learn we have received information from a child under 13, we will delete it, except where we must keep it to protect the child’s safety.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, email us at support@victoriaroos.com and we will help.

6. Your safety and the limits of privacy

We keep your messages private. But your safety matters more. If you tell us that you or a child is being hurt or is in danger, or that you are thinking about hurting yourself, we may share the information needed to get help with child protection services, emergency responders, or law enforcement. We will only share what is needed to keep someone safe.

This website is not a crisis or counseling service. If you need help right now, call 911 in an emergency, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, US), call or text Childhelp at 1-800-422-4453, or visit findahelpline.com outside the US.

7. How long we keep information

  • Messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and follow up, and then deleted.
  • Email list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Technical data is kept by our hosting provider for a limited time for security purposes.

8. How we protect it

We use secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS), limit who can access information, and keep our website software up to date. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

9. Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we have about you
  • correct it
  • delete it
  • stop sending you emails (you can also unsubscribe using the link in any email)

Email support@victoriaroos.com and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, such as in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or certain US states, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

10. Visitors outside the United States

This website is hosted in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be stored and processed in the US.

11. Links and embedded content

This site links to other websites, such as hotlines, books, podcasts, and organizations, and may include embedded content such as videos. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site expands, for example when the Foundation launches or begins accepting donations. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make important changes, we will note them on this page.
